Good Morning:

Today is Day 2 of MEAP testing.  Like yesterday, today we will be again testing in the area of Reading.  Tomorrow, our 7th grade students will be taking the MEAP Writing test.  Good luck to those students.

Have a great day.

Good Morning:

Just a reminder to students and parents that the annual MEAP testing will begin tomorrow for all grade levels in the middle school.  Tomorrow’s test will be a Reading test.

Although it is important at any time during the school year, it is especially important that during the MEAP testing window, students should get plenty of rest, eat healthy and certainly try their best on each test.

Parents are encouraged to visit the Parent Connect website to view their child’s progress in each class.  Progress reports were mailed home on October 8.  If you have any questions regarding information contained on the progress report, please contact the middle school at 839.7163 to speak with your child’s teacher(s).

Have a good week.

Good Morning:

First of all, congratulations to the 7th and 8th grade volleyball teams on their victory over NMC last evening.  The 7th grade won all three of their games while the 8th grade won two of their three to claim the match.

As posted earlier, parents are asked to encourage their children who walk between the middle school and high school to go up one block to the west to Huron Street to walk rather than walk along the shoulder of Houghton Street.  This is a safety concern with the volume of vehicular traffic travelling on Houghton Street before and after school.  Your cooperation is appreciated.

School pictures will be taken at the middle school next Wednesday, Septemeber 22.  If your child is still in need of a picture order form, copies are available in the middle school office.

As we approach the month of October, please be aware that during October, our students will be taking the annual MEAP tests.  All of our students will  be assessed in the areas of math and language arts and in addition, our sixth grade students take the social studies test and our eighth grade students take the science test.

Finally, good luck to our varsity football team as they travel to McBain tonight to take on the Ramblers.  Game time is 7:00.

Have a great weekend.

Good Morning and Happy Hump Day:

Just a reminder to parents that if your child is absent from school, they are able to find out what was missed in class by visiting the teacher’s blog.  Go to the Lake City Area Schools website (www.lakecityschools.net) and then go to the staff directory.  Select middle school staff then select those teachers whose class was missed.

Tonight, our middle school football team begins their season with a game at home versus Pine River.  Game time is 5:00 at the athletic complex.

A friendly reminder to students and parents that students should not be walking along Houghton Street either before or after school.  With no sidewalk along Houghton Street, students are walking near the shoulder of the road which creates a safetly issue with vehicular traffic.  Please encourage your children to go up one block to the west  (Huron Street) which not only has sidewalks but also has less vehicle traffic.  Thanks for your cooperation.

This Friday, students and staff are invited to wear their jeans and flannel shirts to celebrate the annual Festival of the Pines.

Also on Friday, our varsity football team travels to McBain for their annual showdown with the Ramblers.  Come on out and support our Trojans.  Game time is 7:00.

Have a good rest of the week.

Good Morning:

A couple of reminders:  If your son or daughter has not yet returned his/her completed emergency contact card, please have them do so as soon as possible.  If you are in need of another copy to fill out, please call the middle school office (839.7163) and we will send one home with your child.

Students who pay for lunches are encouraged to prepay into their account with lunch expenses deducted from this account.  If you have any questions regarding the food service program, please contact Ron Holman at 839.6021.

Last evening, our middle school volleyball teams played their first matches of the season versus Manton.  Both teams came away with wins with the 7th grade winning the first two games of the best of 3.  The 8th grade team won their match 2 games to 1.  Congratulations girls.

Tonight, prior to the varstity football game versus Pine River, 9 & 10 News will be hosting a pregame tailgate party on the back side of the middle school between the building and the athletic complex.  They will have food and give-aways so plan to attend before our Trojans take on the Bucks.

Have an enjoyable weekend.

Good Morning:

After two days of school, I am happy to report that we have gotten off to a great start in the middle school.  The students seem to be adjusting well to their schedule of classes, learning their locker combination, and of course, where to eat breakfast and lunch.

If parents/guardians have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the middle school office at 839.7163.
